Library Trustees Receive Update from Director

During Wednesday evening’s Library Trustees (LT) meeting, Library Director Leslie McDonnell provided an update to last month’s goings-on on at the Holliston Library.  The remote meeting was called to order at 7:04 PM by LT Chair Nancy Baron.  Minutes from March 3 meeting were amended and accepted and will be posted on the website.

Among the highlights from McDonnell’s report was her attendance of a virtual workshop, “Updating  a Disaster Plan.”  She and LT member Karla Alfred attended the April 29 meeting of the Governance Committee.  Both provided the Trustees with information and answered their questions regarding the GC’s proposed Articles 9 and 10 on the Town Warrant for the Annual Town Meeting on May 10.  Concerning the library building, McDonnell said that installation of surveillance cameras was completed as well as the installation of the new thermostat.   The new library website has not launched yet but is almost complete.  The masonry projects are at different stages:  the front steps and the pad are completed (the stairs will be painted), but more work remains on the pediment. Rotten wood atop the entrance to the Children’s Library was replaced.

McDonnell noted that Community Preservation funding supported efforts to preserve this historic building. McDonnell mentioned the Friends of the Library seek people to affiliate with TD Bank’s Affinity Program.  The bank will donate to the Friends when you associate your new or existing account with them.   No account information is shared with anyone and this association costs you nothing.  More information is available on the Library website:  https://www.hollistonlibrary.org/friends.asp  You may associate your account in person at the bank or by emailing terry.smith@TD.com.

Some discussion followed pertaining to the garden view from the Children’s Library.  Baron said she intends to install and maintain hummingbird feeders.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 PM.  The June meeting of the Trustees will take place on Wednesday, June 2.
