Council on Aging Elects FY ’22 Officers

FY ’21 Council on Aging (CoA) Chair Bob Malone called the June meeting to order at 2:05pm on Wednesday, June 9th. He noted that the June meeting is the Annual meeting of CoA.

CoA members are closer to one another, but not too close. The public is welcome at CoA meetings.

Linda Marshall, now a part-time consultant, presented the monthly report that Director Lisa Borchetta had prepared.  Marshall introduced the Center’s new Assistant Director Amanda Boralessa – whose first day was the day of the meeting.  Welcome Amanda!

The Director’s Report highlighted renovations to the Center and plans to re-open the Center for many activities in the coming weeks.  Below is an image of the current re-open guidelines – masks are still required on the Center’s vans as they are considered public transportation.

Below are some pictures of the recently completed Great Hall, Good as New Shoppe, and Book Store.

The Great Room looks GREAT.
The Good as New Shoppe looks BETTER than good!
The Book Room has new shelving and there are still books on tables. The Book Room is open for business!

Events like the Monthly Breakfast, Summer Sizzler, and others will continue as drive by.  A large tent, chairs, and tables have been ordered.  The chairs and tables have arrived.  When the tent arrives, Facilities Manager James Keast will supervise the construction to comply with all building / safety codes.  The tent will allow for sheltered seating for dining, activities, and events.

The Senior Support Foundation is now planning a full-fledged Fall Fair.  Barring any COVID issues, the big sale will be on Saturday, September 11, 2021. Volunteers are needed to help Neil Svendsen and Sheila Joslin bring the fair to life again this year.

The CoA approved two requests for CARES Act / ARPA funds to support continued meal deliveries through December 31, 2021.  The requests totaled $8,000.
