Joseph F. Vertuca at 86

Joseph F. Vertuca, 86, of Holliston, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. Born in Newton, he was the son of the late Ethel (Ives) and Salvatore Vertuca. He was married to his beautiful lady, Melanie (Lord) Vertuca for 56 years.

Joseph was an Army Veteran, having served all over the world as a mechanic. He enjoyed his longtime career as a wholesale florist. He was a devoted family man who was happiest in the company of his wife, children and grandkids. Of his most favorite things to do was vacationing with his family on Cape Cod. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Red Sox and Patriots. He was a Pats season ticket holder since the start of the franchise. Joseph was a longtime hometown coach in Holliston for baseball, softball and basketball teams. He touched the lives of many kids and their families through his dedication. He also was an exceptional golfer and was the Captain and State Champ in High School.

Besides his wife, Joseph is survived by three children, Lori Vertuca of Holliston, Kimberly Harris and her husband, Michael of Auburn, and David Vertuca and his wife, Paula of Frankin. He also leaves behind  his siblings, Phyllis Orner and her husband, Leslie of Cape Town, South Africa, Beverly Fontano and late husband, David of Waltham, Margaret Shornak of Hazel Park, Michigan, and Lisa Catino of Upton; four grandchildren, Danielle and Hanna Harris, Stephanie Martins and Nathan Vertuca; as well as many nieces and nephews and his lifelong best friend, Ernest “Hammi” Hamilton. He is predeceased by his siblings, Mary Chandler and Carolyn Malde.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 18th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral service will be held privately with family.
