Laser Light Show Saturday Night

Remember just a few weeks ago, if you remembered you had no mask half-way into the grocery store, you’d head back to get the mask. Then rather instantaneously, pandemic restrictions eased. The quick change allowed the folks at the local Lions Club to swiftly organize their Annual Carnival which had been in doubt due to the pandemic.

Meantime, the local American Legion Post 47 had scheduled a laser light show on July 10, 2021. Originally, the show was scheduled to celebrate the Legion’s 100th Anniversary in 2020 but was postponed due to COVID-19.

The same company which put on the laser light show in 2018 at the 8 Arch Bridge on Woodland Street to celebrate the official opening of the rail trail will once again entertain viewers on Saturday evening at Goodwill Park. American Legion Commander Steve Bradford said the show begins at 8:45 pm. Gates open at 7:45 pm.

It soon became apparent that the tradition of having fireworks on the last night of the Carnival – in this case July 10th – would conflict with the already scheduled laser light show. A decision was made by the Lions Club to forego the fireworks for this year.

The event is free, but donations will be accepted, and TC Scoops will be on hand with their ice cream truck. Attendees can bring a lawn chair or blanket. It will be a busy weekend in town with the carnival, laser light show, and Farmer’s Market on Sunday featuring a frog jumping contest further bringing a sense of normalcy to 15 months of forgetting your mask.

Rain date for the laser light show is Sunday night July 11th.
