Council on Aging Vacancy

The Holliston Council on Aging (CoA) currently has a vacancy and is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who would wish to be considered for appointment to the Council.

The COA is a 7-member body, appointed by the Select Board, responsible for policy making and guidance for the Senior Center Director and staff.  It is charged with identifying and describing the needs of Holliston’s senior population (citizens age 55 or over), advising on formulating programs and providing services to best meet those needs with available resources in a cost-effective manner, and educating the community as to senior needs and the importance of providing adequate resources.

Potential members should have an interest in advancing senior issues.  We seek individuals with varied backgrounds to bring viewpoints and recommendations for Council action reflective of best practices and community needs for seniors, and willing to be spokespersons for Holliston seniors with all levels of community leadership.

The population served by the Council on Aging constitutes more than 33% of Holliston’s citizens, and 43% of registered voters.  Half of all annual residential real estate tax billings are made to those over 55 who own or control such real estate.  The primary delivery point for services and programs is the Holliston Senior Center, located at 150 Goulding Street.

The COA meets monthly, usually 9 times a year (no July, August, or January meetings).

If you are interested or wish to learn more of the Council’s duties and responsibilities, please contact Lisa Borchetta, Director of the Senior Center at borchettal@holliston.k12.ma.us, or Yvette Cain, Chair of the Council at cainy@holliston.k12.ma.us

Our monthly meetings are open (of course) and we encourage interested parties to visit with us at one of our meetings.
