Holliston Police Department: November Update

Personnel Highlights:

  • During the month of November, all department members reviewed Policy 2.16 “Identity Theft.”
  • During the month of November, all department members reviewed Policy 2.17 “Child Abuse Investigations.”
  • On November 1st – 3rd, 2021, School Resource Officers Digiorgio and Woods attended an “Advanced 24-Hour School Resource Officer Training” hosted by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) seminar at the Dartmouth Police Department.
  • On November 2, 2021, Lieutenant Leurini attended the monthly Safe Routes to School (SRTS) – Task Force meeting.
  • On November 8, 2021, Sergeant Remkus and Officer Ciavarra attended a “First Responder Specialized Dementia” training seminar sponsored by Salmon Health and Retirement in Westboro, MA.
  • On November 10, 2021, Lieutenant Leurini attended a one (1) day “Civil Rights Symposium” training seminar at the Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) Headquarters in Randolph, MA.
  • On November 10, 2021, a meeting was held at the Holliston Police Department to review the “2021-2022 Regional In-Service Training for Veteran Officers Program” that is hosted annually by the Holliston Police Department. Chief Stone, Lieutenant Thompson, Dover Police Chief McGowan, Millis Police Chief Soffayer, Sherborn Police Chief Galvin, Hopkinton Police Chief Bennett, Medfield Police Chief Guerette, and Ashland Acting Chief Briggs were all in attendance.
  • On November 12, 2021, Dispatcher Ray attended a one (1) day “E-911: Multiple Line Telephone System” training seminar.
  • On November 16th – 18th, 2021, Traffic Safety Officer Grace attended a three (3) day “Commercial Motor Vehicles Weight and Dimension Enforcement” course at the Holliston Police Department.
  • On November 16, 2021, Dispatcher Moscillo reached one (1) year of service with the Holliston Police Department.
  • On November 17, 2021, Chief Stone, School Resource Officer Digiorgio, and School Resource Officer Woods attended a “School Safety Committee” meeting at Holliston Public School’s Central Office.
  • On November 18, 2021, Detectives Maguire and Avey attended a one (1) day “Basic Search Warrant” training seminar hosted by Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s Office.
  • On November 18, 2021, Chief Stone attended an online webinar entitled “Motivating the Next Generation of Cops” which was hosted by the Dolan Consulting Group.
  • On November 27, 2021, Officer Woods reached eight (8) years of service with the Holliston Police Department.
  • On November 28, 2021, Sergeant Remkus reached seven (7) years of service with the Holliston Police Department.
  • On November 29, 2021, Dispatcher Brown reached two (2) years of service with the Holliston Police Department.
  • On November 29, 2021, Officer Alexander Keefe, was introduced to the community and unanimously voted for full-time appointment by the Holliston Select Board. Officer Keefe was then officially sworn-in by Town Clerk Liz Greendale and pinned with his new badge by his father.
  • During the month of November, all officers attended their mandatory “CPR/First Responder” re[1] certification training at the Holliston Police Department. In-service instructors for this course included Sergeant Waugh, Sergeant Remkus, and Ashland Sergeant Ed Burman.
  • During the month of November, all officers attended four (4) hours of specialized “Low light/Night Range Shooting” at the Hopkinton Sportsman Club. Instructors for this training included Sergeant Remkus, Sergeant MacGray, Officer Downey, and Officer Coakley.
  • During the month of November, Sergeant/K-9 Hagan and K-9 Mattis completed their mandatory 16 hours of in-service training with the Boston Police K-9 Unit.

Community Relations:

  • On November 3, 2021, Chief Stone and Lieutenant Thompson attended a “Community Leadership” meeting with members of the Holliston Public School Administrators and members of Holliston’s clergy leaders.
  • On November 9, 2021, members of the Holliston Police Department hosted our annual “Veterans Appreciation Breakfast” at the Holliston Historical Society. This event was open to all Holliston Veterans in preparation for Veterans Day.
  • On November 27, 2021, Chief Stone attended the annual tree-lighting ceremony at Blair Square which included toy collections for Marine Corps annual “Toys for Tots” drive.

Upcoming Events:

  • December 4, 2021 – HPD will join the Ashland Police Department for our annual “Fill-A-Cruiser” event to help support the Marine Corps Reserves “Toys for Tots” program in front of the Big Lots store in Ashland
  • December 15, 2021 – Members of the police department will be serving lunch to our senior citizens at the annual “Holiday Luncheon” being held at the Holliston Senior Center.
  • December 16, 2021 – Members of the Holliston Police Department will once again be participating in the “Shop with a Cop” holiday event in Framingham, MA.
  • December 21, 2021 – Members of the police department will be serving lunch to our senior citizens at the annual “Holiday Luncheon” being held at the Holliston Senior Center.
  • December 2021 – The Holliston Police Department are actively collecting toys in the front lobby of the police station to help support the United States Marine Corps Reserve “Toys for Tots” program during this holiday season.
