Another Sold-out Oktoberfest @ the Holliston Historical Society

The Historical Society’s mission is, in part “to help enrich the life of our community by promoting historical preservation”. The community responded by buying all the seats to Oktoberfest again this year.

The event was led by Bea Hait again this year as she has done for many, many years.

Other members of the society volunteered to decorate the barn, buy the fixin’s, cook the dinner, and clean up afterwards.

During Happy Hour, Ken Onofrey of Crafted, Merchants of Craft Beer and Wine, 400 Washington Street, selected the beers and talked about the history of Oktoberfest.
Music was provided by the Double Eagle Oktoberfest Band.

Music sheets were passed out so everyone could sing along to the traditional German music played by the band. Below an obvious non-smoker.

Another tradition at this gathering is the Stumpf fiddle competition. Six well-oiled participants dance around the floor abusing the Stump fiddle while the band plays a rousing tune.

Stumpf Fiddler #1 sets the beat.
Stumpf Fiddler #2 seems pleased with her “fiddling.”
Fiddler #3 wins the best German attire contest.

Fiddler number 4 came to his senses and went back to his table.

The expression tells the story.
Fiddler number 6 looks determined.
And indeed, number 6 put on the best show by pinning the Applause-O-Meter and won the coveted trophy necklace.
Greg and Linda Schumacher dressed for the occasion and awarded the raffle prizes and the 50-50 drawing.

Proceeds raised at Oktoberfest will be used to fund the society’s mission.

  2. […] Much fun was had at Oktoberfest this year! The band called it a “homecoming” to be back at the Holliston Historical Society. If you were not one of the fortunate ticket holders for this event, you can see pictures and read about it on Holliston Reporter: https://hollistonreporter.com/2022/10/another-sold-out-oktoberfest-the-holliston-historical-society/… […]
