October is National Cookbook month and it’s no wonder why.  Who doesn’t want to get in the kitchen when the temperatures start to dip. It’s harvest time and the rich flavors of fall produce are in abundance.  Time to start baking and there’s no better place to start than with versatile, delicious pies!  So here is our October book pick – The Book on Pie by Erin Jeanne McDowell.

This cookbook could double as a coffee table book with all of its gorgeous and mouthwatering photographs.  It’s a feast for the eyes!  But don’t let that fool you, it is also jam packed with page after page of mouthwatering recipes for crusts, fillings and toppings. Included with recipes are suggestions on how to make variations to achieve your very own pie perfection. I especially love that this cookbook is perfect for any baker from novice to experienced.  Lots of tips and tricks are woven throughout – everyone will learn something new!
