Train Station “Little Free Library” Installed on Trail

From Sarah Baroud

The Baroud family— mom Sarah, dad Jon, and Nathan and Vivian, their two children—has great appreciation for all the work the community has done to establish the trail and love using it…especially because it’s in their backyard.  Recently, the Baroud family has been working with the Holliston Trail Committee, Robert Weidknecht, in particular, to set up a Little Free Library on the rail trail.

After receiving approval to establish the Library, Sarah worked with Robert Crete of Medway to create the Library. Mr. Crete is a retiree with a passion and talent for woodworking. He designed and built the library to look like a train station paying homage to the train history of the trail.

The Barouds covered the cost of the Library, donating it to the community. The new “station” is dedicated to Sarah’s late mother, who died in 2010 and was a dedicated wife, mother and teacher. Sarah said, “It would mean a lot to her that more families have free books available to enjoy!”

Jon dug the hole for the post and erected the Library. Nathan and Vivian donated some books to get it started.

Stop by and have a look next time you’re in the neighborhood.

So humbled by my Carol Ann’s passion for teaching remedial reading and so proud of Sarah Jane’s LFL wide area creation.

    Great work all.
