American Legion Post 47 held its Annual Meeting on Thursday at the VFW quarters on Woodland Street. Martin Spellecy, a retired Marine Lt. Col. was elected to serve as commander. Richard Finn will retain his post as Sr. Vice Commander/ Finn’s gg grandfather served in the Civil War with Holliston’s Co. B, Sixteenth Regiment.

Evsenio Gonzalez will serve as the post’s Junior Vice Commander. Gonzalez is a member of HFD’s Engine # 4. Bill Withington retains his office of Finance Officer and Walter McGrath will continue in his long time post as adjutant.

Steven Garrett will fill the Sgt. at Arms position. Garrett is a member of HFD’s Engine #3. Commander Spellecy recently served as the logistics coordinator for the town’s 300th parade and will be in charge of the 300th’s Laser Light Show at the high school on July 4th. The show is sponsored by the American Legion, VFW and 300th committee
