National School Lunch Program Participation Notification

The Holliston Public Schools believes that a healthy lunch should be available to all students. As a result, the Holliston Public Schools participate in the National School Lunch Program. Free and Reduced Lunch applications will be distributed to all students on the first day of school. Applications may be obtained at any time throughout the year from each school’s main office and on the district website under the forms tab. Annually, all students need to submit a new free or reduced meal application.

Students eligible for Free or Reduced Lunch at the end of June will be eligible to continue receiving Free or Reduced Lunch at the start of the new school year for a period of 30 operating days while new applications are being processed. Free and Reduced applications are accepted anytime during the school year. Students in the same household may be listed on one application. The eligibility criteria for free and reduced priced meals are set by the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines

Families receiving assistance from Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), homeless, migrant, runaway and enrolled in an eligible Head Start or enrolled in an eligible pre-kindergarten class will be notified of free eligibility. If you receive a letter prior to the start of school notifying you that your child has been found to be eligible for free or reduced lunch through the Virtual Gateway process, you do not need to fill out an application for free lunch.

If all children in your household attending the Holliston Public Schools are not listed on this letter, please call the Food Service office at 508-429-0677 x1121. You should retain the letter for your records as it will assist you in applying for other assistance programs. If the household chooses to decline the free or reduced meal benefits, they must contact the Food Services Department.
