HOLLISTON – On Monday, March 16, the Select Board declared a State of Emergency in Holliston to support the community’s response to the outbreak of Coronavirus. Although there have not yet been any presumptive or positive cases in town, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health has detected community level spread in Middlesex County.

The Board also announced the closure of municipal buildings to the public in order to prevent and mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The public is encouraged to access town services through the website or via telephone. Regular business will continue, and these new measures complement other precautions that have been put in place in recent days increased cleaning and sanitizing of municipal buildings.

Town officials urge at-risk populations to isolate themselves. Individuals who live in households with vulnerable individuals should also minimize contact with others, to reduce the chance of disease spread. In order for community level mitigation strategies to curb the outbreak, everyone must observe the social distancing guidance and gathering restriction orders issued by government agencies in recent days. The Board will continue to update the public on further developments, and individuals are encouraged to consult the town website for the most up to date information.
