Women’s March Features Representative Dykema

Our neighbor Representative Carolyn Dykema addresses those assembled on the Hopkinton Common.

State Representative Carolyn Dykema spoke to the crowd gathered on Hopkinton Common for the 8th Middlesex District’s Women’s March on Sat., Oct. 17. The local march, held simultaneously with Women’s Marches around the country, focused on the 8 core values necessary for a just and equal society including: civil rights, workers’ rights, immigrant rights, reproductive rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, disability rights, environmental justice and ending violence.

The event also celebrated the Centennial Anniversary of the passing of the 19th Amendment and marked the accomplishments of the recently deceased Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Massachusetts Senate President Karen Spilka, left above, and State Representative Carolyn Dykema led the Women’s March around the Hopkinton Common for 8 laps, one for each of the 8 core values being highlighted. Well over 120 women, men and children from Hopkinton, Holliston, Southborough and surrounding towns participated.
