Holliston Youth Cheer Team Takes First—Proceeds to State Championship!

From Melanie Fell

On Sunday, October 24th 2021, 18 towns gathered to compete at the Eastern Massachusetts (EMASS) Youth Cheer Local Competition. Representing Holliston was our very own Holliston Youth Cheer program. Holliston Youth Cheer sent two teams to the EMASS Local Competition; our 14U (ASQUAD) and our 10U (BSQUAD.) Of these two squads, only one is competing on the National Track for the first time ever: our 14U ASQUAD. Competing on the National Track would mean advancement to the National Youth Cheer Competition in Florida, should they place in the top three of the next rounds of competition in New England.

At Sunday’s competition, ASQUAD earned FIRST PLACE in their division (level 1, small) beating out 3 other teams. As first place champions, ASQUAD has afforded themselves the opportunity to continue to compete at the State Championship taking place on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 6th at Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, MA.

Holliston Youth Cheer ASQUAD will be one of seven teams fighting for the top spot in their division at the State Championships. If they place in the top three of their division, they will continue on to the Regional Championships being held on November 19-20 in Bridgeport, CT. If they place in the top 3 at the Regional Competition, they will continue on to Nationals in Florida!

Holliston Youth Cheer is proud to have our U14 athletes and coaches represent our program and our town. If you see these athletes around town, please congratulate them on all of their hard work! The support of our Holliston friends and neighbors is appreciated and encouraged. To keep up with our U14 ASQUAD’s journey, you can follow us on Facebook at Holliston Youth Cheer or on Instagram @HollistonYouthCheer.

A note from the Head Coach Melissa Armento:

“Going into the season, our goal was to raise the bar for ourselves, to continuously improve as a team, and to show the girls that with hard work and dedication, we could compete at a higher level.  And we are doing that each and every week.  I am so proud of the team and the strides they have made.  And VERY thankful to the parents for all of their support throughout the season!”
