Historical Society Holds Open House

From Pat Pereira

On Sunday, December 4th Holliston Historical Society opened its’ doors to host a Holiday Open House.

Welcome to the Asa Whiting House

The Asa Whiting House was beautifully decorated, inside and out, for visitors to enjoy and reminisce times gone by. The parlor held a Christmas tree decorated in the Victorian era and the dining room featured a table set for an elegant Christmas dinner. The great room displayed toys from the early 1900s to the 1970’s.

A Lionel trainset, characters from Mr. Rodgers’ Neighborhood, and vintage Fisher Price Children’s Hospital. Also displayed was a furnished handmade doll house and handcrafted boxes with furnished miniature rooms. Upstairs in the library, Holliston’s Joanne Hulbert was kept busy with visitors’ inquiries about all aspects of our town’s illustrious past.

St. Marys’ Knights of Columbus Grand Knight Al Scaramella and Knight Tom Anguish joined us at 2 pm and presented a $1000.00 donation to the Holliston Historical Society. We are very grateful and applaud the fundraising they provide to support local non-profits such as the Food Pantry, Senior Center and Veterans.

Of course, no Holiday event is complete without refreshments!. The kitchen featured cookies, bars, savory treats and punch, cider, coffee and tea.

A good time was had by all. Let the Holidays begin!
