LTC (Ret) Julie Winston – Memorial Day Parade Marshal

LTC Winston and her daughter Olivia.

Julie and her husband Tom and two kids, Olivia and Sean, moved to Holliston in 2015.  Upon arrival, Julie started up a 2nd Grade girl scout troop and has been leading it ever since.

Julie last served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel, retiring in 2017. Throughout her military career, Julie served in a number of leadership roles including company commander, battalion executive officer, battalion commander and finished her career as a brigade operations officer for the 151 RSG. Earlier in her military career, she served as the Executive Officer for the 726th Finance Battalion in Afghanistan. During her tour of duty, Julie worked with the Central Bank of Afghanistan to help stabilize the Afghani currency, streamlined how the U.S. military worked with local vendors and contractors and liaised between the Afghan banking association, the U.S. military and Da Afghanistan Bank. She was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for her exceptional leadership and accomplishments toward the strategic mission in theater.

In 2022, a position on the Finance Committee opened and Julie was appointed to finish out the year. Now running for a 3 year term, Julie hopes to continue serving on the Finance committee.

In addition to volunteer work and time in the National Guard, Julie has worked full time as a Financial Advisor for Morgan Stanley since 2004.

The thread between the various careers and volunteer positions has been community and mentorship (and a lot of finance). Those attributes are the guiding values to everything Julie has done and plans to do in their life.
