David Ross Yovicsin at 69

David Ross Yovicsin, 69, of Mendon and formerly of Holliston, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. Born in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Mary “Betty” (Willis) and John Yovicsin. He was much loved and survived by his partner, Adelaide Greco of Mendon.

If you had the privilege of becoming friends with David, you knew you had a friend for life and you were considered family. He was a strong, charismatic, hard-working, and warmhearted man who made friends everywhere he went. David was a jack of all trades and had many passions between boating in Onset, eating and cooking amazing food (especially in his smoker,) drinking good beer, watching football, and most notably, connecting with people and being everyone’s rock. He was a beautiful, intense blend of humor, mischievousness, and sensitivity. He was a nurturer who loved helping others, both strangers and kin. He had the best fed birds on his property in Mendon and he tended to his yard and garden with the utmost care. Above all else, he was so much fun to be with. His laughter created an infectious and loving energy that will be missed tremendously.

David’s passing has resulted in many broken hearts, but he wouldn’t want us all to dwell on that; he would tell everyone to raise a glass, create fun memories, and tell everybody important in their life that you love them every chance you get.

In addition to Adelaide, David is survived by his children, Jennifer Becker and her husband, Jason of Natick, Lana Dugdale and her husband, Brian of Southborough, Tia Burr of Milford, Matthew Yovicsin, and Dylan Yovicsin both of Holliston; his siblings Ann Yovicsin and her husband, Thomas Herbert of Bangor, Pennsylvania, Thomas Yovicsin of Ashland, and Donald Yovicsin of Waltham; and his ex-wife, Diane Yovicsin of Holliston. He also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son, Neythen Yovicsin.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to One Simple Wish (onesimplewish.org), a non-profit that supports children in foster care. Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com
