As we roll into September, I’m excited to welcome the approaching autumn with a new calendar of LGBTQ+ Family events, fresh avenues for forging social connections, and a forthcoming survey aimed at gathering feedback to steer our program offerings. All of these programs are offered courtesy of The Jewish Community Center

Supporting LGBTQIA+ Students in Elementary School

Fostering Belonging. Join us for a virtual panel that bring together parents of LGBTQIA+ youth and dedicated educators, all passionate about supporting LGBTQIA+ and gender expansive students in elementary school. This session aims to provide parents and caregivers with practical strategies to collaborate with educators in creating an inclusive and affirming environment for children. From open dialogue and communication with teachers to advocating for pronoun usage and nurturing a culture of belonging, our panelists will address the unique challenges and opportunities that arise in supporting young LGBTQIA+ students. JCC PFLAG Support Group for Parents and Caregivers – September

JCC Greater Boston is proud to offer a monthly virtual support group for parents and caregivers of trans, non-binary, and LGBTQ+ identified youth. This group aims to create a safe, welcoming, and affirming space within the Jewish community for parents and caregivers to navigate their family’s identity development and to support one another. Run by PFLAG-trained parent facilitators who can offer support and link you to resources, these confidential meetings are free of charge. This is a collaboration between JCC Greater Boston and Greater Boston PFLAG. Meetings will take place the third Monday of the month from 8-9:30pm. Fall dates include: Sept. 18, Oct. 16, Nov 20, Dec. 18. There is no cost but pre-registration is required by 5pm on the day of the session. The Zoom link will be sent to you upon registration.
