Last Century Class Reunion

Organizer Mellissa (Malloy) Ford

Those invited to this event had to be graduates from Holliston High between the years of 1950-2000. The starting time of noon may have well been a hint that it would be an older crowd sparing them of driving in the dark. Some like John Shannahan even showed up at the wrong location (town hall) where organizer Melissa (Malloy) Ford had held several similar events.

The first one to greet me was old neighbor Sherry Burke from Prospect Street. Sherry wanted to know how things were going for the town’s 300th now that she lives in Wareham. I told her that I wasn’t quite sure as there had been little to no publicity. I know there’s a parade but not sure where it starts or ends.

(L to R) Dennis Condon, Roger Bemis, David Raney

Attending a reunion can be a lot like a game of trivia. Thank God for the name tags. As one attendee told me “if I didn’t know better I’d think I was at a senior center somewhere”. Myself and Cindy (Kampersal) Robshaw were representatives from the Class of “68” of the fifty who attended the event. Dennis Condon was present. Condon is the son of Frank who owned Condon’s Hardware in the center of town before it moved to Medway. Roger Bemis former owner of Holliston Hardware made the trip to Anthony’s on the Green at Pinecrest Golf Course. David Raney who’s dad Oliver (Bud) Raney served on the Holliston Police Department sat next to organizer supreme Melissa Ford. Judy Landers former owner of Holliston Jewelers made the trip up from N. Turo where she now makes her home. Mike Ficco put on a nice spread of salad, pork, chicken and potatoes.

On my way out a man said something as if he knew me. I had to ask who he was. Harold Wood he said. 60 Franklin Street was my reply. Those old post office mail carrier days can remember a street or house number but those little faces back then are a little harder to recognize now.
