St. Mary’s KofC 20223 Raffle Winners

GENEROUS PEOPLE HELP ACHIEVE DONATION RECORD

It came down to the wire, but St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus 15th Annual Charity Raffle goal broke through another barrier. After a hugely successful Charity Golf Tournament in June, the council needed to raise about $7,000 with their 15 th Annual Charity Raffle to cross the $300,000 threshold this year. A series of obstacles stood in their way, like rising cost of food and other goods and weather inhibiting sales at grocery stores on the weekends. But generous buyers reached into their pockets and still bought tickets. They understood the needs of the non-profit organizations which would receive donations, and the raffle raised a net of over $14,600 this year which, when combined with the $13,000 raised by the golf
tournament, pushed the council’s charitable giving to over $307,000!

Grand Knight Al Scaramella, above right with Tom Anguish, originator of the raffle, and the Raffle Committee expressed high praise for the knights sacrificing their time to sell the tickets over the past several months. They also thank the fantastic public for their generous support by helping the
council raise the funds for the charitable organizations again this year. Donation checks will soon be distributed to the food pantries in Holliston and several surrounding towns where raffle venues were held, the Holliston Senior Center, disabled Homes for Our Troops, Tunnel to Towers, the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism, the Holliston Historical Society. A small amount will be held in reserve for other donations throughout the next several months.

And the winners? MaryBeth Paquette received first prize of $1,000, Terry Masson was thrilled to win the $500 second prize, Karolina Farnese won third prize ($250) and donated it back to be included with the council’s donations, the $150 fourth prize was won by Brit Burke, and Neil Denny received fifth prize of $100. Indeed, five very happy winners. Al Scaramella, pointed out that the financial needs of these organizations and those the council will select for next year’s donations have not diminished. So, while Council has crossed the $300,00 plateau, they’ll continue to work on new higher goals until the funds are no longer necessary. Stay tuned for next year…
