Stumpfing at the Historical Society

October 20, 2023 — As always, Oktoberfest was a sellout event.

Traditional German music was provided by the 10-piece Double Eagle Oktoberfest Band. The 24th Annual Oktoberfest is chaired by Bea Hait who sets the menu and supervises her team of society volunteers, preparing the meals in the kitchen and serving them to guests.

Ken Onofrey, above center, from Crafted in Holliston, brings some choice Oktoberfest beers and speaks of the history of Oktoberfest.

In addition to the polkas and the great food, this event is also known for the Stompf Fiddle contest where 6 brave volunteers compete for the approval of the crowd as measured by the Applause meter, above. The noisier the applause, the higher the register on the Applause Meter.

Contestant #6, above, pinned the Applause Meter with her performance that included table dancing while tasting some of Crafted’s finest.

Looks like a super fun time! I didn’t know about this but will definitely be there next year!
