Anne Hollingsworth Fossel (“Holly”) of Holliston MA, formerly of Newton MA and born in New Haven CT, passed away Wednesday, November 22nd peacefully at her home at age 79. Holly was the daughter of the late Ray Upson Plant Jr. and Anne Hollingsworth MacCready Plant, the sister of the late Carol Hotchkiss Plant and the sister of MacCready Palmer Plant all of Branford, CT. Holly is survived by her daughter Karin Kirsten Glanville and husband James Glanville, her son Lars Soren Fossel and life partner Danielle Fogerty, her niece Alison Plant Lima and husband Joseph Lima.  She will be missed by all, but especially her grandchildren (“Grans”) Eric Robert Sutter, Henry Hollingsworth Sutter, Isabella Hotchkiss Lima, Gabriella Hollingsworth Lima, Steven Plant Lima, and Alex Michael Fossel.

Holly grew up in the shoreline community of Branford CT. She attended Drew University and ultimately moved to Newton MA to raise her family. Holly worked for decades at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston MA as a Data Research Manager where she contributed to advancements in arthritis research and raising awareness about Lyme disease. Holly was a lifelong member of the United Church of Christ, and was most recently an active member of the First Congregational Church in Holliston MA where she was a devoted member of their handbell choir.  Holly was an incredibly skilled knitter throughout her life and took great joy in teaching this craft to others.  Anyone who was a recipient of her sweaters, socks, scarves, hats and blankets felt the love she knit into her intricate patterns.

During her retirement she enjoyed her book and knitting clubs and would never miss her water aerobics.  Holly spent a lot of time in Nantucket, not only in the summers but enjoying the various year-round festivals there too.  She enjoyed sharing the island with friends and family, especially savoring the sound of the waves and warmth of the sunshine in late afternoons. What she most loved was being surrounded by family and she glowed when she was with, or talking about, her grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate Holly’s life will be held on Sunday, December 17th at 2pm at the First Congregational Church of Holliston, located at 725 Washington Street.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to your local Hospice organization or the First Congregational Church in Holliston c/o Handbells in her name.
