Holliston Historical Society–Be part of something that lasts!

On July 29, 1910, at the invitation of John Mason Batchelder of Holliston, 38 residents met in the Selectmen’s Room at Town Hall at 7:30 pm to express interest in forming a local Historical Society. Approximately 38 residents attended and pledged to join together promoting the historical preservation of their town. 113 years later, we are still an integral part of Holliston’s past, present and future.

2023 has been a busy and productive year. You may have seen the big trucks working on our new septic system or noticed the stripping and painting of our barn and the Asa Whiting House.  Our Programs Committee presented a variety of programs.  The Collections Committee displayed artifacts at Open Houses.  As we have for many years, we hosted all of the town’s 3rd graders so they could see what life was like during the 18th century.  Next year promises to be even bigger and better!

2024 is the 300th Anniversary of our Town and the Holliston Historical Society is planning to participate in the parade on May 11th, host a Strawberry Festival on June 23rd and showcase an encampment with area militia regiments on November 2nd, in addition to our regular events like the Harvest Fair in September and the Father’s Day Car Show in June.

Maintaining Holliston Historical Society does not happen in a vacuum.  It takes the planning, efforts and ideas of many to ensure we continue our mission of enriching the lives of our citizens through historical preservation, education and events promoting camaraderie among us.

We welcome new members—all are invited to join—and we welcome contributions, small or large.  Donations can be made payable to Holliston Historical Society and mailed to 547 Washington St., Holliston, MA 01746 or visit www.hollistonhistoricalsociety.org to make donations or pay dues using PayPal.
