Roland A. Dwinell, 94, of Franklin and formerly of Holliston, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023. Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Theresa (Scullin) and Rolland Dwinell. He was the beloved husband of 67 years to Ann (Jones) Dwinell of Franklin.

Roland received his B.A. from State Teachers College at Salem, his MBA from Northeastern University, his Advanced Certificate in Educational Administration from Boston College, and an A.M. in Economics from the University of Illinois. Roland served in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Yokohama, Japan. He was an intelligent and innovative man.  He taught business, economics, and accounting at Brookline High School and later became a Professor at Framingham State College. He wrote a textbook for Apple Computers and authored the historical genealogy, Michael’s Roses. Roland was a lifelong Red Sox and Celtics fan. He enjoyed traveling, jazz, reading, and the family cottage at Lake Winnipesaukee.

In addition to his wife, Ann, Roland is survived by four children, Theresa Dwinell, Joe Dwinell and his wife, Paula of Holliston, Richard Dwinell and his wife, Carla of Little Compton, RI, and John Dwinell and his wife, Pam of Wrentham. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He is predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Dwinell and Clara Lodi.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 18th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church of Holliston. Interment will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Dana-farber.org
