Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather;

Craig M. Carey, 75, of Dracut, MA, passed away peacefully with his loving wife Sandy by his side. He was the husband of Sandra (Anastos) Carey, with whom he had just recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Craig was born in Malden, MA on December 26, 1948, a son of the late Eileen and Alan Carey. He attended Holliston schools where he was well respected by his peers. Craig excelled in both academics and sports. He served as the President of the Student Council, was a member of the National Honors Society, Math Glee Club and was a Star Athlete, MVP and Football Captain of his High school football team.

Following High School, he met and found his best friend, and love of his life, Sandy, at a local ice cream shop. From there, their love story took flight. Craig’s loyalty and love for Sandy was undeniable and their marriage to one another was a testament of what true love entailed. Craig was always proud of the family that he created, having had 2 girls, and 2 granddaughters, that he adored, to which he was lovingly known as “Peepa”. There was nothing that made him happier than being in the presence of his family.

Education was always an important value to Craig, and he made sure to instill this value with both of his girls as well. Craig first obtained his Associates in Engineering at Wentworth Institute in 1969. He then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science at Northeastern University in 1977, followed by his MBA at New Hampshire College in 1979. Craig always possessed a strong work ethic and was dedicated to his main career at Ayer Sales Inc., where he served as General Manager for 42 years, earning countless awards for his customer service, before retiring in 2017.

Craig was a man of many talents, using his architectural and handyman skills to build and design a home on the side, build an addition to his home, and develop numerous home improvement projects over the years (including the “Carey clubhouse” for his girls). He took much pride in helping to build and maintain the landscaping to his beautiful home of 47 years that he created.

Craig was an avid golfer and belonged to a golf league for over 30 years. He enjoyed watching sports, loved playing fantasy football and was a proud NY Yankees fan. He enjoyed the beach/sunsets and loved creating memories with his family, especially during vacations in Cape Cod (“The Cove”) over the years. Craig also enjoyed all types of music including classical, rock, Oldies 60’s music, of which he could name that tune in 1-2 notes! He was always proud to share that he attended the iconic Woodstock concert in 1969 and his photo was even captured in Harper’s Bazaar magazine.

Craig was also a member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, MA.

Craig will always be remembered as being a unique, humble and “one of a kind” man, and will be missed immensely by all of his family and friends. Besides his wife, survivors include a daughter, Renee Carey-Schindler of Hudson NH; daughter Danielle Carey of Londonderry NH; two grandchildren, Leah Schindler of Hudson NH, and Gretchen Mullins of Londonderry NH, and brothers Kent Carey of Southborough MA, Scott Carey and his wife Molly of Douglas, MA, Glenn Carey and his wife Nancy of Franklin, MA, and sister Theresa Tomasetti and her husband Jim of Holliston MA. Craig is also survived by many more nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is also the brother-in-law of the late Debby Carey, wife of Kent.
