Paul Bond

West Ham United lost one of its most ardent supporters on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

Paul William Bond of Salem, Virginia – previously of Holliston, Massachusetts and Clutton Hill in Somerset, England – passed away after a short illness and following a long, seven year post-stroke recovery.

Paul was born on December 24, 1958, in Woolwich, England to Douglas Patrick Bond and Olive Beatrice Bond (née Boxall).

He was a kind, funny, driven soul who loved to laugh with friends, work in the garden, listen to music of every genre, savor a gorgeous cup of coffee, and deftly take on home improvement projects.  Paul built beautiful stone walls, traveled throughout the world enjoying nature, and delighted in quoting from Black Adder and Hot Fuzz.

He was one of those lucky few who adored their chosen career, and he truly loved what he did.  Paul’s work as a creative director in the television and radio industry took him from the BBC and 422 in England to production studios in Washington, DC and Montreal, and finally to WGBH in Boston.  Over the years he created fun, clever, visually stunning work.  See for yourself at www.paulbondcreative.com

He leaves behind his wife of 18 years, Bethany Carter Bond (née Hines); brothers Anthony Bond and Andrew Bond (Beverley) of Kent, England; and sister-in-law Alissa Hines and mother-in-law Charlotte Hines – both of Roanoke, Virginia.

A garden memorial service will take place this summer and his ashes will be returned to his beloved England.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Doctors without Borders or an animal sanctuary of your choosing.
