Alexander “Bud” Albert Adams Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and longtime resident of Holliston, Massachusetts, died peacefully on April 1st surrounded by his family.

Born June 25th, 1939, in Boston, Massachusetts, Bud was the son of Alexander Adams and Aniela “Nellie” Vespelis (Westfield). After graduation from Stoughton High School, Bud served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1964, posted in Tokyo, Japan at Tachikawa Air Base. He married the love of his life, Joyce Yeomans of Canton, in September 1965 and moved to Holliston in 1970.

Upon his return from the Air Force, Bud began a long career in plumbing and pipefitting, joining the Pipefitters Local 537 Union in Boston. Bud spent his career working for the T.G. Gallagher company from 1970 until his retirement as Vice President in 2004. Throughout his career, Bud served as a mentor to many young people in the field. Bud was immensely proud of his mentees, enjoying seeing their contributions to the field over the decades.

Bud was recognized and admired for his genial spirit, his open-mindedness, his carefulness and precision, and his green thumb. Bud was an avid outdoorsman passionate about his large vegetable garden that he tended using organic traditions passed down from his father. He loved nothing more than delivering fresh vegetables to neighbors, coworkers, and friends all over town.

Bud leaves a wonderful legacy of contribution to community organizations, with a focus on veterans affairs. He was an active lifetime member of the Holliston Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the American Legion, and the Natick Elks. He also volunteered at the Boston Food Bank in partnership with his neighbors.

Bud is survived by his wife Joyce (Yeomans) of Holliston and his loving children, Dawn Roberts (Steve) of Taunton, MA, and Scott (Samantha Garbers) of Boston, MA. Bud was a devoted, wonderful grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, Jenna and Dylan Roberts, and Will and John Adams. He is also survived by his sister Carol Beard (C.L.) of Wickenburg and brother Tommy of Sun City, Arizona.

The family would like to thank the dedicated and thoughtful healthcare providers who cared for Bud throughout his life, the neighbors who sustained him, and the staff and patrons of local institutions who enriched his life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 27th at 2pm at The Warren Conference Center and Inn (529 Chestnut Street, Ashland, MA) with food and beverages following the service.
