Civics Sunday: Announcing Candidate Statements to Inform Voters’ Choices

Content of the Holliston Reporter, a hyper-local news blog, informs residents of weekly events, activities, and information of neighbors as they serve, entertain, and educate one another. It is here where readers may find and follow up-to-date information concerning decisions made by elected officials and members of Boards and Committees that affect our community.  We hope our content is helpful in your understanding of the Holliston community and in formulating your election decisions.

The deadline for submitting Nomination papers is Tuesday, April 5, 2022.

We, the Publishers invite and publish candidate statements to keep voters informed of their choices on Election Day. Candidates write—in their own words—of their qualifications for the position they seek as well as their views on pertinent issues.  These statements will be published on Sundays during the weeks prior to Town Elections, May 24, 2022.  Candidate statements must be submitted electronically and received by April 30, 2022

Email to: pubs.holliston.reporter@gmail.com

Candidates, please observe the following criteria:

  1. Include your name, address, and the position you seek;
  2. State your interest in this position and relevant qualifications;
  3. Present your views on issues pertinent to this office/board/committee;
  4. Restrict content to yourself rather than maligning others and their ideas; and
  5. Limit your statement to one-typed page of 600 words or less.
  6. Option: attach a .jpg formatted photo of yourself.

Candidate Statements will be published only if received by APRIL 25. This date allows time to obtain and file your nomination papers (due by April 5).  Holliston Reporter reserves the right to edit your statement.  Thank you in advance for helping Holliston voters make informed decisions May 24th at the Town Election.

Individual candidates running in the town election may advertise with the Holliston Reporter.  A candidate’s ad will be published only in April and/or May, at a cost of $50/month.
