Holliston’s Library Trustees met Wednesday, June 29, 2022, for the final meeting prior to its summer break.  Karla Alfred, Chair, called the remote meeting to order at 7:00 PM.  Outgoing, retired (6.30.22) Library Director Leslie McDonnell (below left) and incoming Director Deric Wilson (below right) attended to present the Director’s Report and recent updates.

McDonnell reported that the first Goodwill Park Summer Concert (co-sponsored with the Cultural Council, Holliston Newcomers and Neighbors, Middlesex Savings Bank) was presented in conjunction with the Parks and Recreation Department.  She requested funding to replace a broken receipt printer, and the Trustees voted to allow $300 from the gift account for replacement.  Additionally, McDonnell said the Friends of the Library purchased two lightweight tables for Library use. 

McDonnell noted that she and Wilson visited the Town Hall recently to meet and greet various personnel including the Town Clerk, the Director of Technology, the Facilities Director, among others. McDonnell also reviewed the process and location for posting the agenda for future Trustees’ meetings. Wilson also had the opportunity to meet the Assistant Town Administrator and several town residents during a recently held coffee. 

Wilson requested the Chair’s signature on a requisite document from the MA Board of Librarians certifying his placement as Library Director.  The Trustees bid adieu to McDonnell, wishing her will in her retirement, and welcomed Wilson.

The Trustees will meet next on September 7, 2022, at 7 PM.  As the remote meeting law (Chapter 22 of the Acts of 2022) expires on July 15, 2022, the next meeting will be held in the lower conference room of the Library.
