Recently, the volunteer Board of Directors of Holliston Cable Access held its Annual Meeting to
report on 2022. President Chryso Lawless welcomed the audience of subscribers and staff and
announced a branding and promotional initiative. “We are calling it Holliston Hub – HCAT——

  • Connect Here! HCAT is the source of information for Holliston through award winning,
multimedia (Facebook, You Tube, Video on Demand) productions that support and strengthen
our community.” The promotional effort will include fundraising for the non-profit. As subscribers “cut the cable cord,” they reduce the income that cable providers pay HCAT. Looking ahead, HCAT will solicit sponsors for shows, and based on the viewer numbers revealed at the meeting, sponsorships would be win-wins for local businesses and organizations.

Station Manager Bruce Gilfoy presented a summary of the 2022 year: Holliston Hub – HCAT – produced 558 new shows with over 737 viewing hours of content, an 84% increase from pre-Covid. We broadcasted over our three Verizon and Comcast cable television channels and published to our Web Page, Video-On-Demand server, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter-(X), Instagram, and Tik Tok.

On our Facebook page, with over 3,100 followers, we have great viewer analytics. Not surprisingly, Spencer & Penny proved to be our most popular videos in 2022 – on three separate occasions – Spencer’s and Penny’s Birthday, A Tribute to Spencer & Penny at the Boston Marathon, and Celebrating Spencer. Sadly, the pups both died within a week of one another early in 2023.

We now have a library of 45 videos in our Holliston Together segments. We featured local businesses during COVID to help them survive. The productions were so well-received that we have continued to add to them.

Our YouTube channel added over one thousand subscribers this year and we are now at 2,600.
There are more than 1,800 videos on that channel. We live-stream all School Committee meetings, Town Meetings, Select Board meetings, Holliston High School Graduations, and several high school sports. As many as 420 YouTube subscribers watch the live stream of Holliston football games. Once the stream has been processed to a video, these games get over 4,000 views all over the country.

In the near future, we will add another Live-to-TV and streaming access point at Town Hall which will increase our coverage of government and committee meetings. . Over the past year, Holliston Hub- HCAT won several awards. Among them was “Story Time with Chief Cassidy-Dial 911” which was awarded the “2023 Distinction Winner” in The Communicators’ Award for excellence in strategic, effective, and meaningful communication.

Holliston Hub- HCAT’s successful year is possible due to the hard work and dedication of our staff and volunteers. Stay Tuned and Connect Here for community centered local news.

Holliston Hub – HCAT has so much to offer the residents of Holliston, not the least of which is documenting life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in this little town.
