HOLLISTON, MA — A hand count showed that around 1,400 people of all ages gathered in front of Town Hall at 2 PM on Saturday, October 18, for Holliston’s latest “No Kings” demonstration. The lively, peaceful event was part of an ongoing grassroots movement standing up for economic fairness, evidence-based decision-making, and the Constitutional principles that protect every American. Demonstrators also referenced recent reports of hateful symbols and discriminatory language appearing in political settings, urging unity and accountability across all parties.
The festive, family-friendly crowd filled the square with colorful costumes, spontaneous dance-offs, and Holliston’s trademark sea of bubbles. The mood was spirited but focused, emphasizing community strength and accountability in the face of ongoing national crises.
Ten assigned peacekeepers maintained order throughout the event, ensuring traffic safety and respectful dissent. When one participant fell ill, an ambulance promptly responded, and the individual later recovered off-site. Organizers extend appreciation to the Holliston Police Department for their watchful support during the demonstration.
In keeping with Holliston’s strong community tradition, $520 in cash donations were gathered for CASA, which provides emergency food assistance, transportation, and other essential services to local immigrant families. This brings the total collected for area organizations—including the Holliston Food Pantry, Veterans, Inc. of Worcester, and Project Just Because—to over $2,500 within the last six months.
“Each demonstration reminds us that resistance can be both joyful and purposeful,” said Cynthia Burrow, Chair of the Holliston Democratic Town Committee. “We stand for dignity, fairness, and care for our neighbors.”
