The Lawrence P. Cohen Memorial Scholarship Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students who have persevered through significant challenges, will host its 2nd Annual Rocking the Cause fundraiser on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at The Cape Club of Sharon.
The annual fundraiser will bring together friends, families, community members, and supporters for an evening of live music, food and drinks, auctions, raffles, and philanthropy, all in support of the Foundation’s scholarship program.
Created in memory of Lawrence “Larry” P. Cohen, the Foundation carries forward his lifelong commitment to perseverance, education, and compassion by providing financial assistance to graduating high school seniors who demonstrate extraordinary resilience in the face of adversity.
The Foundation is led by Larry’s sons, Neil Cohen and Michael Cohen, alongside Board Members Ryan Barrett, Matthew Tobin, Ashleigh Powers, Jaime McLaughlin, Dina Reiss and Kerry Collins. Together, the Board oversees the Foundation’s scholarship program and fundraising initiatives, with a goal of awarding two scholarships annually to deserving students.
One scholarship is awarded to a student with a diagnosed learning difference supported by an Individualized Education Program (IEP) who is pursuing higher education at a two-year or four-year institution. A second scholarship supports a pediatric cancer survivor continuing their education at a four-year college.
Each scholarship recipient reflects the values that defined Larry’s life and career, including resilience, courage, compassion, and a deep commitment to higher learning. The foundation’s 2026 Inaugural Scholarship recipients, Kalynn Souza and Issac Dahn, will be in attendance and honored at this year’s fundraiser.
“Rocking the Cause is more than a fundraiser. It is an opportunity to bring our community together in my father’s memory while creating meaningful opportunities for students who have already shown tremendous strength and perseverance,” said Neil S. Cohen, Founder, President, and Treasurer of the Lawrence P. Cohen Memorial Scholarship Foundation. “Every donation, sponsorship, and auction contribution helps us continue his legacy and invest in young people as they take the next step in their education.”
The Foundation is currently seeking support from individuals and businesses interested in helping make this year’s event a success. Opportunities include silent and live auction donations, raffle basket contributions, event promotion, and other community support. Proceeds from the evening will help fund scholarships for future recipients.

About the Lawrence P. Cohen Memorial Scholarship Foundation
The Lawrence P. Cohen Memorial Scholarship Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in June 2025 to honor the life and legacy of Lawrence P. Cohen. Led by Larry’s sons, Neil and Michael Cohen, the Foundation is committed to continuing his lifelong values of perseverance, education, and compassion by providing financial assistance to graduating high school seniors who have overcome significant adversity in their academic journeys.
The Foundation has established a goal of awarding two scholarships annually to help offset the cost of two-year and four-year college tuition. Scholarships support students in two areas that are central to the Foundation’s mission: students with IEP-supported learning differences who are pursuing higher education and pediatric cancer survivors continuing their education at a four-year college. The Foundation began awarding its first annual scholarships in 2026 and is committed to helping deserving students turn perseverance into opportunity.
