Tomorrow (TODAY), September 1, is Election Day for our statewide primary elections. Our Town Clerks, municipal officials, poll workers, and statewide election officials have worked tirelessly to ensure that all Massachusetts voters can exercise their civic duty in a safe, accessible manner tomorrow, and I want to thank them for their service to our democracy in these unprecedented times.

The Massachusetts Student Record Regulations authorize public school districts to destroy student records within seven (7) years of a student’s graduation, transfer or withdrawal from the school district. The Holliston Public Schools, Department of Student Services, will be complying with these regulations. The persons affected are those who received special education services in Holliston and terminated services during the 2012-2013 school years.

Good news from around the country today, as our state public health officials have received enough data to make a determination adding four states to our “lower-risk” travel exemptions.

Shopping at our local businesses when you are able is one of the ways that we can all work together to support our communities as they continue to weather the economic impacts of the pandemic.

Since last week’s announcement of preliminary learning models by school district, many students, families, and educators have had questions about what reopening will look like, how our education system and our public health officials will work together to keep students and staff safe, and what to expect in the coming school year.

Ensuring that our first responders have the equipment, funding, and support they need to meet the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic is a top priority for our federal, state, and local governments.

As we all know, our economy, especially wage-based workers, self-employed individuals, and small businesses, has been rocked by the pandemic. To help address these challenges, our state and federal governments have worked to develop new eligibility rules, extended benefit periods, and provide additional payments to those receiving unemployment assistance.
