Barbara Ryan – Holliston School Committee Candidate, 2025

Hello! My name is Barbara Ryan, and I am running for Holliston School Committee because I care deeply about our community, the education of our children, and the well-being of our teachers and staff. One of my goals is to create more cohesion among the groups and individuals that make our schools run – while we support the teachers and staff who work so hard every day with whom we share the responsibility of educating and shaping the future: our children.

Since moving to Holliston in 2019, my family and I have experienced firsthand the strength and generosity of Holliston. We were drawn by the reputation of the schools and the welcoming atmosphere. This is where we’ve put down roots, where we’re raising our boys, and where we have committed to giving back. Through PTO leadership and other volunteer work, I have created good with others, built meaningful relationships and friendships across town, and have specifically gained a deeper understanding through this work what our schools need to thrive.

My career as a leader has spanned 30 years in public and private sectors in a variety of roles including 20 years in the Army, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired). I have served in mainly in healthcare settings as CEO, COO, and Chief of Staff, Training/Education/Communication Director, and as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. As an active parent, volunteer leader, and advocate for good, I bring experience, discipline, dedication, and heart to everything I do.

If elected, I will show up, I will listen, and I will follow through on issues and policies that impact our students and families, teachers, staff, and community at large. I am not here to create change for the sake of change – and I have no hidden agendas; I am here to support and elevate the great programs and work already happening in our schools. As an active School Committee member, I will work collaboratively within the School Committee, with the Administrators and Holliston Federation of Teachers, and Town entities to guide and implement thoughtful improvements where needed – all with commitment, common sense, and heart.

My deep sense of duty and service is propelling me to run and be a public servant. I am fully aware that being a School Committee member is a serious commitment of time and energy. I truly want our schools to continue to provide every learner the opportunity to succeed while continuing to reflect the excellence our teachers, staff, and schools deliver every day.

I am honored to earn your vote – and to serve the town I am proud to call home.
