I’ve got something that I’d like to say,
This time of year for Veterans Day.
Of special men and women too,
Some people we’re indebted to.
They took the task to keep us free,
And served ol’ Uncle Sam.
Then rejoined their friends and family,
To appease their heart’s demands.
Before they knew, professions grew,
They soon became involved.
To needs within their local towns,
With efforts they helped solve.
They’re of varied occupations,
On the land in which we live.
With determined dedication,
And high standards they still give.
He’s the one who had to stop you,
As you went speeding through his town.
Or the one who puts out fires,
Before your buildings tumble down.
She was the one who stayed beside you,
When you were ill and needed care.
And then she knew just what to do,
Till you could breathe in your own air.
They’re the ones we all look up to,
In whom we trust and feel secure.
Like a friend who cares about you,
Conscientious and assured.
They’re the veterans of this nation,
The ones you see most everyday.
Of well seasoned dedication,
Their deeds can never be repaid.
