St. Patricks’ Day Breakfast & Roast

St. Patricks' Day Breakfast & Roast

If you missed this sold out event, you missed great food and lots of laughs! This was a kickoff to a full calendar of events for the 300th Anniversary!

The breakfast menu was scrambled eggs, O’Leary’s home fries, baked beans, Irish banger, Murphy’s ham, Fruit salad and of course Irish bread. Food was provided by TJs and served by Holliston Lions Club members and a couple of helpful community members. Setup and breakdown was a joint effort between the Holliston Lions Club and members of Mount Hollis Lodge.

Town Moderator Bill Mayer opened up the festivities with a few comments an was followed by Joanne Hulbert (Town Historian) who educated the crowed on “A History of the Irish in Holliston”. Joanne was followed by Bobby Blair who we were told was providing a few “thank you comments” but that didn’t quite go as planned because Bobby couldn’t help roasting a few people himself. You can see Bob’s comments on this video (towards the end!).

Once everyone had their fill of breakfast then the fun really began! the roasters/roastees were Ken Szajada (Finance Committee), Carolyn Dykema (former State Rep), James Arena-DeRosa (State Rep), Dan Alfred (School Committee), John Shannahan (Mudville Baseball), Tina Hein (Select Board Vice Chair), Kevin Conley (former Select Board member), Mark Ahronian (former Select Board member.

The fun, jabs, and laughs can be watched on this video.

The next 300th Anniversary event is on April 26 (Arbor Day)
