The past few years have demonstrated for me how needs and challenges are changing in Holliston. Consistent, focused leadership is why I am choosing to run for a third term. There are several multi-year projects that require continued effort to shepherd across the finish line. My past two terms demanded hard work to advance plans and initiatives that strengthen Holliston, and I committed to their success.
A new DPW Facility must be built to provide safe, modern, efficient facilities and operations, ensuring continued delivery of essential services Holliston residents and businesses now and into the future. Water main replacement projects on Norfolk, Central, and Goulding Streets are necessary to deliver reliable water service to residents and businesses and expand walkability throughout town. A Downtown Sewer District will create economic opportunities and improve wastewater treatment options for those who choose to join. Dam, culvert and roadway drainage projects must be completed to repair failures and prepare the Town for the inevitable risks of extreme flooding events in a changing climate. And finally, the Town must continue down the path of repairing and modernizing our transportation network to ensure reliable access and safety for all road users.
Holliston will be challenged in the coming years. As a community that recently supported a $1 million+ operational override, and a debt exclusion for critical infrastructure projects, there are calls to limit increases in residential property taxes. Yet as a community that values the town’s character and open space, there are also calls to limit potentially disruptive development and greater density. I support greater community engagement and collaboration – to further define the priorities of 21st century Holliston and create a plan for boards, committees, and departments to follow as the Town navigates important decisions impacting local taxpayers. The work can be difficult at times. Focused, dedicated elected officials who serve the greater good of all residents are needed. Elected officials who prioritize bringing state and federal funds back to Holliston and who will further develop relationships among boards and committees, staff, and with our state and federal representatives are needed. I have shown that I am capable of both.
I am proud of the leadership I have demonstrated during two prior terms on the Select Board. I work hard, listen to residents, and show care for my community with the policies and plans I have supported. I am grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community that I love through volunteer service, and I ask for your vote on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
