Like the swallows (they’re not swans) of Capistrano the hanging baskets are slowly returning. Adding ambience to downtown Holliston the baskets are the culmination of many partners. Some of these plants were grown beginning in March at the Community Farm. Others were a donation by Anne Huntington of High Street. Patricia Maley and Clare Connors assembled the baskets and Ty Crefeld and Mike Zoda have the task of hanging the baskets.
The whole project is administered by the local Charles F. Duford Post #47 American Legion. The Marigold Project is also responsible for planting and maintaining the flower beds along the sidewalk at CVS, Blair Square, Central Burial Grounds, Town Hall, Historical Society, Green Street, Gooch’s Corner, (thanks Bea Hait) Hollis Street and many other smaller overlooked corners of town.
Once the baskets are hung, watering becomes the main factor with traffic a major obstacle. In the fall 2,300 mums replace the annuals along with spring bulbs for the following year. The Marigold Project is also placing historical signs around town in advance of the nation’s 250th Anniversary. Did you know that Paul Revere’s family sheltered here in town during the Revolutionary War. More historical signs on the way this summer. The Marigold Project is a non-profit and if you wish to donate, checks can be made out to the Downtown Marigold Project and mailed to the attention of Bob Blair, 57 School Street, Holliston MA 01746

Thank you, all!
