Troop 11 Thanksgiving Fundraiser

Founded in 2019 – when Scouts BSA opened membership opportunities to girls – Troop 11 was built from the ground up. Unlike many long-established troops that have spent decades building equipment inventories, traditions, and fundraising resources, Troop 11 had to create those opportunities from scratch.

Five years ago the troop launched what has become an annual Thanksgiving fundraiser — its largest source of funding and a holiday tradition for local families.  Since 2021, Troop 11 has sold more than 840 pies and 100 flower arrangements, while donating nearly 100 pies to local senior citizens. The proceeds go towards purchasing gear and helping ensure that every scout – regardless of financial circumstances – can participate in activities such as leadership training, camping trips and summer camps, and even once-in-a-lifetime High Adventure trips to places like Montana, St. Thomas, and Acadia.

This is a story about much more than Thanksgiving desserts. It’s about young women creating opportunities for themselves and future generations of female scouts while developing leadership, confidence, resilience, and life skills that will serve them for years to come.

This year’s fundraiser features pies from Out Post Farm in Holliston, holiday floral arrangements from Sunnyside Gardens in Hopkinton, and opportunities to donate directly or buy a pie for a local senior citizen.
