Families in Holliston and across MetroWest often know when something is wrong but not always which door to open first. A new Brave Path Recovery family resource, the MetroWest Mental Health & Addiction Care Guide, was created to help residents understand the difference between emergency services, crisis lines, the Massachusetts Behavioral Health Help Line, mobile crisis options, outpatient therapy, part-time day treatment, full-time day treatment, and dual diagnosis care. The goal is not to replace clinical advice but to give families safer language and better questions before a concern becomes a crisis.

The guide encourages families to start with safety: call 911 if someone may be in immediate danger, call or text 988 for emotional crisis or suicide-related distress, and in Massachusetts call or text the Behavioral Health Help Line at 833-773-2445 for 24/7 help finding mental health or substance-use support. It also includes a printable questions worksheet and visual tools families can use before calling a provider, crisis line, or clinician. The practical message is simple: families do not need perfect words to ask for help, but knowing what changed, what feels unsafe, whether substance use is involved, and what level of support may be needed can make the first call more useful.
