Aloha “Bobbie” R. Lawn-Tower, Age 82, September 7, 1938 – March 3, 2021. With profound sadness we announce the passing of Bobbie, our loving and devoted wife, mother, “Grandy” and “Great Grandy.” She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. Diagnosed with lung cancer in 2004, Bobbie was a warrior against cancer. Through perseverance, faith, and love from family and friends, Bobbie fought a long and brave fight of 17 years. Bobbie was born in Boston, MA and lived in the Boston area most of her life. She attended Newton High School and Chelsea Memorial Hospital, School of Nursing. As a registered nurse, Bobbie took her role of caregiver very seriously. She believed in helping everyone around her. Bobbie was often heard saying that there is nothing more important than taking care of your family, friends, and those in need. One of Bobbie’s final acts was to anonymously donate her stimulus check to a family in the community whom she had never met.
Bobbie was a hands-on mom and grandmother, volunteering in any way she could. Having grown up with no role models or traditions of her own, she created new traditions that would be carried on by her children and grandchildren to this very day. Having made her home in Holliston, MA, Bobbie loved the time she spent as a member of the First Congregational Church of Holliston. Wherever you looked, Bobbie was there; in the alto section of the choir, ringing bells, and serving on numerous church committees. You could always count on Bobbie to be in the pie room at the Christmas Fair, or bringing her famous “Mom’s Baked Beans” to numerous potluck dinners. During this time, Bobbie’s love for theater blossomed. She joined the Holliston Curtaintimers and could be seen in almost every show they produced. To this day, she has never been able to live down her reenactment of “Lola”, when she sang “Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets” at the church talent show.
As Bobbie approached retirement age, she took a chance at love again when she met and married James (Jay) Tower during a whirlwind romance. During this time, Bobbie and Jay joined the United Parish of Upton for 13 years to be closer to their grandchildren. Bobbie cherished her time at United Parish, however due to travel distance and her grandchildren moving away, Bobbie and Jay returned to The Congregational Church of Holliston.
When Bobbie was diagnosed with lung cancer – instead of slowing down, Bobbie and Jay embraced life to the fullest. They traveled extensively. When it was realized that Bobbie’s battle with cancer was coming to an end, they took their final dream trip to Mediterranean.
It must also be noted that Bobbie was an avid animal lover. Having volunteered for years at the community animal shelter, she is survived by her two feline children: Katy and Josie.
Bobbie is survived by her loving husband James (Jay) E. Tower of Ashland, MA, her two daughters, Valerie Gallant of Madison, TN, and Sharon Lawn Bliss of Auburn, MA; by former husband, Donald S. Lawn of Griffin, GA; her step-sons, Douglas Tower of Gloucester, MA, Brian Tower and his wife, Jennifer Tower of Orono, ME. She was “Grandy” to Nomi, Ryan and his wife, Kelly, Jeffrey and his wife, Lauren, Tyler, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Rachel, Christopher, and Cameron. She was Great Grandy to Charlie, her “birthday buddy”, who was born on her birthday in 2019.
