Holliston Eagle Scout Candidate Louis Connoni completed his project at Stoddard Park in June. Louis built and installed two beautiful cedar changing stalls next to the composting bathrooms, which the Parks and Recreation Department had identified as a need for the park, as well as for Camp Patoma for the past few seasons. The Parks and Recreation Staff and Commission have bene very impressed with the dedication Louis has shown throughout this process and the final result has far exceeded expectations.
Louis first approached the Parks and Recreation Commission this fall to pitch the project. He did an excellent job of communicating his vision and his plan. He raised funding, sought out resources to help support his efforts, and ultimately added a wonderful, high-quality element to the park. Throughout the process Louis provided helpful updates, budgeting and design ideas and tweaks and he conducted several site visits with Parks and Recreation Staff to make sure the project was progressing smoothly.
Louis saw a need for the town and worked with the Parks and Recreation Staff and commissioners to address the need. He did so in a timely and well-communicated manner, and he should be applauded for his excellent effort and craftsmanship. The Parks Commission always welcomes potential Eagle Scouts to reach out for ideas on projects. This is an example of an Eagle Scout approaching us with a well-formed and carefully thought-out idea that was executed very effectively. The Parks Commission thanks Louis (and his team) for this wonderful contribution to the community.
