2022 will mark the 30th year Celebrate Holliston honors two citizens with its Citizen of the Year Award. The award is as close as Holliston gets to the UK’s MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire). Nominations from townspeople are then voted on by a select group from the Celebrate Holliston committee. The awardees come from all walks of life including business, politics, and the everyday Joes and Janes. Holliston Citizens of the Year join a most exclusive club.
The roll call of those who have held the title includes three father and son teams. Herb Brockert ’93 and Herb Brockert Jr. ’17, Carl Damigella ’94 and Joseph Damigella ’02, and Louis Paltrineri ’95 and John Paltrineri ’01. Married couples received an equal footing with Jacqueline Dellicker ’98 and Henry Dellicker ’03, Mark Ahronian ’01 and Linda Ahronian ’13 along with Amy Porter ’06 and Andy Porter ’12. Nine former citizens have passed away since the program started.
A private reception was hosted by Celebrate Holliston and attended by previous Citizens of the Year on Thursday evening at Bertucci’s in East Holliston. The official presentations will be made Saturday at Goodwill Park.
