Dear Holliston Students, Staff, and Families,
Our hearts go out to the community of Bend, Oregon, following the tragic school shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School, which claimed the lives of three students and a teacher. While school shootings have become distressingly more frequent occurrences across our nation, every single act of violence profoundly impacts us all and forces us to confront our deepest fears regarding school safety.
In Holliston, we are deeply grateful for our strong partnership with local Police, Fire, and Public Works departments. Together, we are unified in our unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and entire community. While you may routinely observe visible measures such as visitor access controls, staff identification protocols, and structured drop-off and pick-up routines, there are also extensive behind-the-scenes measures in place. These include regular emergency tabletop exercises, proactive mental health assessment protocols, and continuous safety reviews. Maintaining a safe environment for our school family remains our highest priority.
Please rest assured that our dedication to fostering a secure, nurturing, and supportive environment for your children remains steadfast. As a community, we stand united in supporting one another and ensuring our schools remain safe places for learning.
Sincerely,
Dr. J. Kimo Carter, Superintendent
