How did our ambulance service come to this that there are times when there are not even two EMTs on duty? In that case this is the procedure as described by Chief Cassidy:
“If there is only one EMT on duty and there is a call for an ambulance, at that moment the fire dispatcher will attempt to get a second EMT by activating the tone/voice pagers of the off-duty EMS personnel. If no one calls in to the station that they are available to respond to that incident, the dispatcher will request an ambulance respond from another service (municipal or private)”
Think if you called 911 for an ambulance for a sick child or any ill person and you are waiting!
However, if you lived in Ashland, Hopkinton, Medway etc not only would there be two persons at the station but they would be higher qualified as ALS. Advance Life Support.
The residents of Holliston deserve better and concrete actions!
