This week is exactly why we need full-time firefighter/paramedics on staff. This is much too high a call volume to rely solely on the on-call system. The people who are showing up and working ambulance shifts are getting crushed. We’re going to burn them out. We should also be sending a fire engine on all medicals where are we using a mutual aid ambulance. It’s not safe and it’s not fair to have our mutual aid partners handle the entire incident with just a cop and the two of them. Many hands make light work.
