Gregory Morace Lamb

Gregory Morace Lamb of Holliston passed on May 23, 2022.

A native Iowan, Greg attended Principia College in Elsah, Illinois, graduating in 1972 with a BA in History.  As a writer and editor, Greg’s career at The Christian Science Monitor spanned nearly 50 years.  Unfailingly upbeat and with a broad skillset, he was needed just about everywhere at one time or another. His positions included:  New England reporter, Arts editor, Special Projects editor, Features editor, Assistant International News editor, People Making a Difference Coordinator, and Editorial writer. Those who knew him best remember both the deep love he displayed for his work and for all humanity, as well as a strong moral compass, never judging but thoughtful. After retiring in 2016, Greg continued working part-time as an editorial writer. A long-time colleague says, “Even in the harshest news event, he could bring out reason and hope. His writing disentangled complex topics. He loved writing about the next adventures in space and the latest progress against climate change. When given the chance, though, he favored writing about sports, not for escape but to find greatness in human achievements. The latter was like his long Monitor career: He pitched all nine innings well.”

A Holliston resident for over 37 years, Greg enjoyed membership in the Holliston Historical Society and loved his daily walks on the Holliston Rail Trail.   As a sports fan, he followed the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Iowa Hawkeyes.

Along with his loving wife Nancy, Greg is survived by brother Randy Lamb and his wife Linda of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, sister Quinna Giebelhaus and her husband Tim of Framingham, brother Brian Lamb and his wife Gayle of Minneapolis, Minnesota, brother-in-law Dana Bowen of Lovell, Maine, and nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 10:30 AM at the Wayside Inn’s Martha-Mary Chapel, 35 Dutton Road, Sudbury, MA 01776 (just off Wayside Inn Road).
