Greyhound Friends to Hold Fall Open House Saturday, September 23, 10am – 2 pm

Adopters, supporters, neighbors and friends are all invited to attend Greyhound Friends’ Fall 2023 Open House, 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, September 23 at 167 Saddle Hill Road in Hopkinton.

The day’s activities will include music, refreshments, vendors, kennel tours, fun runs, training tips, nail trims, a silent auction & raffles, and contests including a dog costume contest for those getting into the Halloween spirit!

“We are honored and pleased that State Representative James Arena-DeRosa will drop by to present a State House Citation marking Greyhound Friends’ 40 years of adoption and advocacy work,” says board president and Holliston resident Michael Simon. “We are fortunate to be represented by a dog lover who also happens to be a former greyhound owner, familiar with the history of this special breed.”

A Remembrance Ceremony will be held at 11:30.  Participating vendors include: Happy Hounds Soap Co. plant based skin care; Classy Couch Potatoes handmade collars & dogwear, MS Design crafts, House & Hound Concierge, Doghouse Bakery, and Lady’s Bake Shop dog treats. A portion of vendor proceeds goes to support the organization.

“Visitors will have a chance to tour the adoption kennel and meet the dogs currently waiting for homes,” says Greyhound Friends Executive Director Terri Shepard. “Individual appointments can then be made for those interested in pursuing adoption of a particular dog. That process takes a little time and needs to be unhurried, to make sure the fit is good for everyone.”

Admission is free. All sociable dogs are welcome, on leash (not retractable) and in owner’s full control. Full details are available at Greyhound Friends’ website, https://greyhound.org.
