Holiday “Rescue Pet Project” for Holliston’s Community Action Fund

The Holliston Community Action Fund (HCAF) is bringing back a wonderful fundraiser this holiday season – the “Holiday Rescue Pet Project.” HCAF is taking “slightly used but very loved” stuffed animals and packaging them with a unique individual “pet” story and placed into a holiday box and lovingly gift wrapped. These rescue pets will be donated to several toy-collecting organizations to be given to children in need in our own and surrounding communities

The Rescue Pet Project will kick off with a table at 747 Washington Street during the November 30th Holiday Stroll (12-5pm). Next month, the Rescue Pet Holiday Workshop will be open on Wednesday December 4th, 11th and 18th from 6-8pm at the Holliston Youth and Family Services Office at 1750 Washington Street (Parks & Recreation location as well). Stop by and see our progress and talk to the students.

This project is all being done by our Holliston Community Action Fund “Student Division” which is our dedicated group of students from both the middle school and the high school who shoulder the work of HCAF. As this is a fundraiser for the Holliston Community Action Fund, we are looking for people in our community to SPONSOR a rescue pet. Sponsorship for a rescue pet is $30 and all proceeds go to the Holliston Community Action Fund. Sponsor a pet today at www.HollistonCommunityAction.org. Our goal this holiday season is to donate 300 rescue pets to children in shelters, foster homes and temporary housing situations, thanks to the help of Hopkinton’s “Project Just Because.”

Throughout the year, the HCAF works hard to provide short term emergency financial assistance to residents requesting assistance through the town department, Holliston Youth and Family Services. The type of assistance that has been awarded over the past year includes paying of utility and phone bills, heating bills, car payments, etc. How does a resident ask for assistance? There is a determination of need, performed by the Youth and Family Services Office of Holliston. If you are a community member in need of emergency assistance, please contact , Allegra Denehy, LICSW, Holliston Youth and Family Services at (508) 429-0620 or at https://www.townofholliston.us/youth-and-family-services Donations are gratefully accepted in any amount at any time, online at https://hollistoncommunityaction.org!
