
The 31st Annual Communicator Awards Announces Honorees
Excellence and Distinction award recipients named across industries and borders
New York, NY – The Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA) is proud to announce the honorees for the 31st Annual Communicator Awards.
With thousands of entries received from across the US and around the globe, the Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring excellence in marketing, communication and creative work. Holliston Fire Department Training Exercise was recognized as an Award of Excellence winner in the General – Government & Associations category. Other Award of Excellence recipients – representing the highest honor of the competition – include standouts such as Netflix, NASA+, Oliver Wyman, George P. Johnson Experience Marketing, Getty Museum, Apple, PepsiCo, McKesson, Savannah College of Art and Design, the Walt Disney Company, NBCUniversal, Zeta Global, Bank of America, and many others.
In addition to the Award of Excellence for the Holliston Fire Department Training Exercise, Story Time with Chief Cassidy: “This is the Firefighter,” (Episode 54) and Story Time with Chief Cassidy: I Want to Be a Firefighter (Episode 56) were also recognized as Award of Distinction winners in the General – Youth Audience category.

The exercise was a hands-on extrication drill in April 2024 involving both fire and EMS personnel. The training was conducted in partnership with the Holliston Police Department, Medway Fire Department, the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University, and the State of Massachusetts Animal Response Team (S.M.A.R.T.).Story Time with Chief Cassidy, is a production of Holliston Hub –HCAT–, with Bruce Gilfoy on camera and Chris McKnerney as editor. The series began in April 2020, as a way for the fire chief to share key fire safety messages with students during the early days of the COVID-19 lockdown. Since then, 60 episodes have been produced and posted to HCAT’s YouTube channel, Facebook page, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) feeds. Several episodes have previously been selected as winners in the Communicator Awards, Davey Awards, and Alliance for Community Media – Northeast (ACM-NE) Region Video Festival.
